Frequently Asked Questions
- What's this?
WHO
- Who? Yes.
- Wait, what? No, WHO.
- Ok, now you're just being silly. Why yes,
we are the Silly Hat Brigade and Los Jefes.
- Aha! You just let slip some juicy details.
Drat! Err, WHO?
- Seriously, what is all this? It is The Game.
- What is The Game?
RTFM
- Ok, but what's with the Henchmen? Well, this
game is themed off the awesome muscial series "Dr.
Horrible's Sing-along Blog" by Joss Whedon
- Crap, now I'll have "Bad Horse" stuck in my head all day.
What a wonderful way to be tortured. Also, not a question.
- Will my hours of studying Dr. Horrible help my team win this event?
No. It may however help you have a more enjoyable experience over the
course of the weekend.
- Well, when is this
"Game"? It ran the weekend of June
17th-19th 2011.
- I can't make it on that weekend. Great! Errr,
too bad. We do need folks to help us run a beta test of the event on an earlier
date, so let us know if you would be interested in helping us with that.
- Wait, one of those days is a Friday. Yes.
Again, not a question.
- So, I was reading about how The Game works, are you really expecting
us to go a full 3 days without sleep? Puzzles are worth it. But
no. We are planning to have an event Friday night that lasts a few hours, and then
the Road Rally portion will begin on Saturday morning.
- Well, where will this be happening? On Earth.
- Could you be more vague? Somewhere...or maybe
not.
- Could you be more specific? In the Seattle
Area. Plan to fly into and out of SeaTac airport (if needed) and rent a Van (definitely
needed). Using said Van, transport your team to the starting location. The event
will be done by Sunday evening 5pm at the latest.
- What's the starting location? As of yet undisclosed.
- How will we make hotel reservations? We will
take care of that for you, the cost of which will be included in the event fees.
- What if we don't want to stay the night at that hotel? Whatevs, do what you want. Let us know ahead of time, but you'll need
to attend the Friday night shenanigans, and be bright eyed and ready to go Saturday
morning.
- How much is that road rally in the window?
The one with the waggily tail?
- That's not an answer. We are finalizing the
logistics, but have an upper bound of $200 per person.
- Love a 24th and a half century water fowl! Das a big chunk o' change!
Yes. But it will cover Friday night food and lodgings, Saturday breakfast
lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and a banquet at the end of the event. Plus there's
that whole weekend of puzzly fun you'll be partaking in.
- Wow, that means we don't have to bring food or petty cash!
Incorrect. You should still bring everything you need to comfortably
play through the weekend, including snacks, cash, water, etc.
- How many people are allowed per team? We
recommend no more than six(6) people per team. If you would like to field a larger
team, please contact us to make special arrangements.
- Speaking of, how do we sign up for this event?
You will need to submit an application, which will be put through a "rigorous" screening
and acceptance process.
- What are your criterion for a successful application? Probable areas of interest will include puzzle solving, creativity, and
previous experience. Further details will be coming shortly (within the next couple
of weeks). Application submissions will open March 30th, and end April 17th.
- What equipment do I need to bring? Standard
solving equiment is recommended. Including (but not limited to) laptops, power inverters,
cell phones, pencils, paper, a straight edge, scissors, tape... Further details
will be included with your application packet.
- What if my question isn't answered in this FAQ? Well try out one of these answers: "Yes" "No" "Maybe" "I don't think that
means what you think it means" "Only if the groundhog sees his shadow" Still questioning?
You could email your question to us and we
will respond promptly (for some definition
of "promptly")
- Is there a puzzle hidden in this FAQ? No.
Stop looking. Kthxbai.
